Golden Valley Christian Church
Do you remember the five-digit finger activity taught to children to remind them of how to talk to God? Starting with the thumb, which is the closest to the heart, pray for those closest to you. The first finger, pointing finger, is a reminder to pray for those who are pointing to the truth, be it church or school. The middle finger, tallest finger, reminds one to pray for our leaders, including our churches and the government. The ring finger, weakest of all, reminds us to pray for the sick, injured, hurt, or troubled. The last finger, smallest of all, helps us pray for the left-out, the abused, or those who suffer in silence. Even adults would be wise to adopt this strategy, so that none would be left from our prayers.
Show-Me Christian Youth Home, at La Monte, will hold their annual Open House this Saturday, September 10th, 10 AM to 3 PM. Back-to-church Sunday will be September 18th, at GVCC.
"Touching Lives," with scripture from Philippians 2:14-16, was Tim's message last Sunday. If we are to be children of God, we should live a life of service. The biggest complaints are often made by people sitting on the sidelines, criticizing those who are working. People look on the outward appearance, while God looks into the heart--our thoughts, desires, and motives. Christians will never be perfect, but the goal is to be as nearly like Jesus as possible; that means serving and loving others.
