Golden Valley Christian Church
Few people would recognize the name of Mary Grace Gellekanao, born in the Philippines. Mary Grace’s story is an amazing inspiration. She was born with a physical disability, having only one hand and an undersized right leg. She was basically an embarrassment to her family. At the age of six, she showed an interest in her grandmother’s piano. The loving grandmother sought a piano teacher and was rejected three times. On the fourth appeal, a teacher agreed to try to teach this handicapped child. The result was an amazing young pianist that now holds concerts for Christian charities. Mary Grace gives credit to her Christian faith in helping her overcome this major obstacle. God is there to help all of his children overcome whatever obstacle they encounter (Isaiah 40:29-31).
Last Sunday was “Back-to-Church” day, and the GVCC congregation was delighted to have so many visitors. We also enjoyed a bountiful lunch, with all invited to remain for the meal. A very nice contribution was sent to International Disaster Emergency Service (IDES) from GVCC. Thanks to each one who so generously gave to help the hurricane victims.
“What is Truth?” That was the title of Bro. Tim’s message, with this question from John 18:38a. Bro. Tim used a unique method to bring forth this message. Three of our attendees were given one piece of a large puzzle. They were to describe the picture on the puzzle piece, to try to figure out where it would go. The idea behind this was to demonstrate how the Bible can be compared to a puzzle, and we have to read and study it to see the entire picture. We must study the entire Bible, so that its truths can be known to us. Jesus said He came into this world “to testify to the truth.” God is the ultimate source of truth, as revealed throughout the Bible.
The Bible challenge question: What was the crime of Barabbas, who was released instead of Jesus? (Luke 23:19)
