Golden Valley Christian Church
Most of us are familiar with the old adage, “Humans are creatures of habit.” For example, have you noticed the seating habits of people attending church? Most people choose to sit in the same area every Sunday. Normally, friends, families, or acquaintances sit together. We tend to stay in our own little niche. There is certainly nothing wrong with this habit. It can be a good thing, making it easier for ministers and other people to be aware of the absence of a faithful attender, as it could be a sign of illness or other need of help and prayer for that individual. However, we need to be concerned about the visitor who comes to our services, welcoming and making them feel comfortable. For a person to be ignored and isolated by a congregation of Christians is unacceptable (Hebrews 13:1-2).
This Sunday, September 17th, is Back-To-Church day. Everyone is encouraged to bring someone to church with them. Wednesday night we will begin our new group study, “The Truth Project.” We need to keep those on our prayer list, and the people caught in the troubles of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, in our prayers. Thanks to those who gave so generously to International Disaster Emergency Relief, for the hurricane victims.
Bro. Tim’s message came from 2 Peter 1:3-11. The book of 2 Peter gives the solution to the title of the message, “What the World Needs.” We need to understand that all people are God’s creation, but not all are His children. There is a list of the qualities we need, in these scriptures, that will help us to be effective and productive. Our faith is essential to requiring these qualities that will give us a fuller, happier life. If we are eager to do these things, we are promised that we will “never fall.”
