Golden Valley Christian Church
Recently, our warm days have reminded us that we are still in the summer months, but autumn is just around the corner. September is a transitional month, still capable of miserably hot days and just-as-cool days and nights. We will watch the migrating birds leave our area, while other birds, that reside in the northern states, will migrate to southern states. While many great events have happened in September, one of the worst events also took place. It was September 1, 1939, that Germany, under the dictatorship of Adolph Hitler, invaded Poland to start World War II. This war lasted six years, killing millions of people, bringing torture to a new level, and changing the world forever. The Bible gives us a prediction concerning wars (Matt 24:4-8).
The GVCC youth meetings will resume on September 8th, so parents and young people, be sure to put that on your calendar. Now is a good time to purchase discounted school supplies for the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. The Crafters are still busy on their projects, meeting at 2:00 PM every Thursday, at the church building.
Bro Tim’s message, “In God’s Time,” was taken from 1 Samuel, chapter 16. After God had rejected King Saul and his descendants, God told Samuel to go to Bethlehem to the house of Jesse to anoint what would be the new king. This would have been a dream unheard of by the young boy, David, to become king of Israel. All of us have dreams, but God does not always give us what we want or expect. It is important to keep God involved in our lives each and every day. By trusting Him and paying attention, we will see how God is working in our lives. (Psalms 20:4-7)
The Bible challenge question: Why was Moses not permitted to enter the tent of meeting? (Exodus 40:35)
