Do you have a Biblical hero, other than Jesus? You might consider Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, children taken captive by the Babylonians. As adults, they were so wise they were put in charge of the affairs of the Babylon province. Their belief in God was so strong they refused to worship the golden image the king built. The king, hearing of their refusal, had the three thrown into a hot furnace to die. The three were saved by God's intervention. We know these heroes by their Babylonian names, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednigo.

The Golden Valley Christian Church has again been saddened by a death in the family of one of our attendees. We send our condolences to Cody Maurer and his family on the sudden, unexpected death of his father, Michael Maurer.

Last Sunday, one of our own faithful, Chris Rush, filled the pulpit while Bro. Tim and his wife, Georgia, were on vacation. The topic of the message, "By Faith," was taken from Chapter 11 of the book of Hebrews. Examples of the faith of Abraham, Moses, and others were discussed. Chris pointed out that faith is conviction of things not seen. "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." (Heb. 11:1)
