Golden Valley Christian Church

There are many statements attributed to the Bible that are not there.  For example, "God helps those who help themselves," a statement penned by Benjamin Franklin, is not found in the Bible.  Another example is "The Golden Rule,"  which may have been inspired by Jesus, saying, "Love your neighbor as yourself."  Scripture may be the basis of many statements of this nature, but it is important to study scripture, and know what it actually says.

After our Sunday morning service, we enjoyed a fellowship meal.  We celebrated the opening of school, with memorabilia from some of the attendees; several shared special memories of their own school days.  A big thanks goes to Jo Ann, Paula, Tammi, Georgia, and Barbara for putting this all together.

Going along with the "back-to-school" theme, Mary Tuggle read a poem by Carl Sandburg, entitled "Arithmetic."  Bro. Tim's message was focused on the gifts and tithes we give our Lord.  People give to the church for different reasons, including guilt, responsibility, needs of others, thanksgiving, and worship.  The best two of these reasons is thanksgiving to our Lord for the many things He has provided us, and worshiping Him.  Not only should we give our monetary gifts, but we should also give Him a portion of our time.  We can never actually repay God for the blessings He gives us, but we should always give back a portion.

The Bible challenge question is:  "What was the ethnic background of Timothy?'"  (Acts 16:1)

The Golden Valley Christian Church meets at 611 South Third Street in Clinton.  Our Sunday Bible classes begin at 9:30 AM, and morning worship is at 10:30 AM.  Our full-time minister is Bro. Tim Randall (office phone #660-890-0252), and our website is www.goldenvalleycc.org.  We are happy to invite you to attend our services, where you will always receive a warm welcome.
