Golden Valley Christian Church

The heat of summer has hit our area in full force.  According to the encyclopedia, the hottest days are the first part of August, even though the sun is at its strongest in June, at the summer solstice.  That is because heat has been stored in the ground, rocks, and lakes, keeping the air temperature higher in spite of the diminishing daily heat in August.  We wonder how our summer heat compares to Hell.

The Golden Valley Christian Church enjoyed a carry-in meal last Sunday.  Our thanks go to Judy Harris and Paula Phillips for the wonderful job of coordinating the meal.   Last weekend, Bro. Tim surprised his wife, Georgia, with a short trip on their 40th wedding anniversary.  We, at GVCC, extend our congratulations to this great couple on such a milestone.

In the absence of Bro. Tim, one of our own, Chris Rush, brought an excellent message.  Using a compass as a visual lesson, Chris reminded us that God's word is like a compass.  The magnetic field on a compass always points north.  God's word is like the needle of the compass, always pointing back to Him, giving us the spiritual food and shelter we need.  We are all walking on our life's journey, and we need to know where we are, and where we are going.  The Bible helps us with our spiritual walk.
