Seventy-four years ago, on June 6, General Dwight D. Eisenhower ordered the largest amphibious invasion in history, onto the shores of Normandy.  This invasion was meant to bring an end to World War II.  General Eisenhower had written two letters to be read on that day:  One if the invasion failed, and one if it succeeded.  In the letter, should the invasion fail, Eisenhower wrote that the fault would be his alone.  Thankfully, the invasion was a success, and within a year, the war in Europe came to an end.  Another brave general gave a king good advice that was not heeded.  When King David ordered a census of Israel’s fighting men, General Joab advised against it.  Ignoring that advice, David ordered the census, with devastating results.  (2 Samuel 24:10-15)

Vacation Bible School was the big activity at GVCC this week.  It was a tremendous time for the youngsters, and a great learning experience.  Some huge thanks go to the director, Melynne Jones, for all of her hard work, and to all of her helpers who gave so generously of their time and talents to make this endeavor such a success.

Ecclesiastes 9:2 was the scripture used in Bro Tim’s message.  Bro Tim emphasized that we are all in God’s hands.  However, our understanding of what is good does not always coincide with God’s good.  God has given us choices; we will either believe in Jesus, or not believe in Him.  This is the decision that will be the deciding factor of how we live.  The fact is, we only have one life to get right with God, and that will determine where we will spend eternity.  One thing is certain:  Death becomes the great equalizer of all people.  (Ecc 9:5-6)

The Bible challenge question:  What sin did Simon the Sorcerer commit after he was baptized? (Acts 8:13, 18-24)
