In the Book of Job, God speaks to Job about sounds of singing, coming from the stars (Job 38:7).  So far, the majority of us have not been privy to hearing anything like that.  However, NASA has discovered a “Black Hole” in the Perseus cluster of galaxies that emits a cosmic hum identified as a B flat.  The sound is many octaves lower than middle C.  This may not be exactly the type of “singing” God was describing, but we know we are to sing praises to God (Eph 5:19-20).

The weather was so beautiful this past Sunday, and GVCC welcomed many people to the services.  The joint adult Sunday morning Bible study has ended, and our two adult groups are again meeting separately, each with different study material.  Last Sunday, our church youngsters gathered in a heartwarming moment to thank and give a gift to Melynne Jones, the director of our VBS.

Bro. Tim’s message was entitled Learning to Trust, with scripture starting at Judges 6:1.  This was the story of how the Midianites were harassing the Israelites, causing great fear among the people. Because of the evil the Israelite people were doing, God allowed this harassment for seven years.  After the people turned back to the Lord, an angel was sent to Gideon to become the deliverer for His nation. Despite all of Gideon’s misgivings, he obeyed God’s order to select three hundred men.  Because of God’s help, Gideon and his small army of men defeated the large Midianite army.  Gideon refused the offer to be the ruler of the Israelites (Judges 8:22-23).
