Golden Valley Christian Church

"A centipede was happy, quite--Until a toad in fun--Said, 'Pray, which leg moves after which?'--This raised her doubts to such a pitch,--She fell exhausted in the ditch--Not knowing how to run." (Copied)  Can this be the way many Christians are, trying to sort out all the rules and regulations, forgetting the true reason Jesus came to earth?  Maybe we should think about that.

Last Sunday, several were absent due to vacation, family reunions, and some with health concerns.  For those ill, we pray good health will be quickly restored.  We will soon be holding our Vacation Bible School.  The church family is all involved in this activity, either helping or bringing supplies.  We are so thankful for everyone's help.

Bro. Tim's message, "Family Feud," was not about the game show, but about the family of Jacob, whom God renamed Israel.  Israel had twelve sons, but loved one (Joseph) more than the others.  Joseph had dreams which he revealed to his brothers, about how he would be greater than they would be, causing anger and jealousy.  This quickly escalated to a plan to kill Joseph.  God intervened, and instead of causing his death, Joseph was sold into slavery.  This act eventually saved the Hebrew nation.  God gave Joseph a gift, but the gifts God gives us are for His glory, not ours.

The Bible challenge question: Which one of the twelve Apostles was called "the Zealot?" (Matt. 10:2-4)
