Golden Valley Christian Church
The average lifespan in the United States has risen to 81+ years for women, and 76+ years for men. We know there is a time limit to our lives on this earth. There is a bristlecone pine tree, nicknamed “Methuselah,” located in the Inyo National Forest in the White Mountains of California, that is more than 4,800 years old. (The exact location is kept a secret for safety purposes.) The time will eventually come, however, when even this ancient tree will die. The good news for Christians is that after our death, because of the cross and our belief, we will live forever. That will beat 4,800 years, all to pieces. What an awesome God we serve!
Sadly, the Golden Valley Christian Church has lost another one of its faithful members. We were all saddened to hear of the death of Marjorie Melling, a very devoted follower of the Lord. Marjorie was an active member of GVCC, from the opening day of the church in 2009, until health problems forced her into assisted living; even then, her devotion and faith never failed her. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. GVCC extends sympathy to Charles and the rest of Marjorie’s family.
Last Sunday morning, our Bible study was about worship, with much interchanging of ideas. This is a very informative and interesting study that welcomes all who attend. In the morning message, Bro. Tim continued the theme. Using scripture from Psalm 63:1-11, Bro. Tim urged us to keep our minds focused on God. While nobody has seen God, we can visualize what He looks like by the description of Him in the Bible and should keep that picture in our minds. We must praise and worship Him. King David was a good example of one who truly worshiped the living God.
The Bible challenge question: Who named the children of Jacob and Rachel’s handmaiden, Bilhah? (Gen 30:1-8)
