Golden Valley Christian Church

It would be hard to count the atrocities done by the Nazi party in World War II.  However, there are some instances of heroic deeds, even by some belonging to that party.  George F Duckwitz was a Nazi worker in occupied Denmark even though he had become disillusioned with the Nazi party.  When the Nazi plan to round up and deport Danish Jews to concentration camps became known to Duckwitz, he took action.  He made a discreet trip to Sweden, convincing that nation to accept Jewish refugees.  Back in Denmark, the senior rabbis were notified of the Nazi plan, and a new plan evolved to save the Jewish population.  Over six thousand Jews were secretly ferried by boats to Sweden, thus escaping concentration camps and death.  It was estimated over ninety-five percent of the Danish Jews were saved by George F Duckwitz.  There is another person in history that has saved, and still is saving, souls.  Jesus Christ died a horrible death, so that those who believe in Him will have eternal life (John 3:16-17).

We thank God for the plentiful rainfall.  Thankfully, it did not alter the attendance at Golden Valley Christian Church.  Those in attendance were invited to a wonderful carry-in meal.  A card shower was given for Jo Ann Snider and Bob Fenwick, in honor of their approaching wedding.  Many cards and well wishes were bestowed upon this nice couple.  We were all saddened to hear of the death of Bob Burke, husband of one of our faithful attendees, Gloria Burke.  The entire GVCC congregation extends their condolences to the Burke family.

Proverbs 19:21 was the scripture reference for Bro Tim’s message.  The church is for God’s purposes, not man’s ideas.  The church belongs to Jesus, and He is the head of the church.  The New Testament Church is the example for GVCC, using the principles and ideas used in the New Testament foundation.  The church should be a place where people can show love, pray together, and encourage each other.  Each person walking into the church building should be warmly greeted and made welcome.  Christians are called to be the light of the world (Matt 5:14-16)
