Golden Valley Christian Church

In 1993, Bill Jeracki was on a fishing trip at St. Mary’s Glacier, near Denver, Colorado.  On his way back to his car, a boulder fell on him, pinning his left leg.  Because of the impending harsh weather, Mr. Jeracki knew he would not survive the cold Colorado night.  After several hours, with no help in sight, he took a small pocketknife and rope from his pocket, and cut off his left leg at the knee.  After freeing himself, he crawled to his car and drove to the nearest town for help.  This horrific, but essential, act saved his life.  Mr. Jeracki had to make a crucial decision to save his life.  What about people who will not be deprived of any sin to save their soul?  Life is short, but death is forever, and Heaven should be every person’s goal.  Now is the time to contemplate what crucial decisions must be made to assure our place in Heaven.

The new Sunday morning Bible study has proved to be very well received, as the group is growing.  The focus this week was on prayer.  The Golden Valley Christian Church congregation has been very generous in donating cans of beans for the West Central Christian Service Camp summer programs.  Five gallon-size, and one hundred sixteen regular-sized, cans of beans were delivered last Sunday.  Many thanks to all who contributed to that project!

Luke 18:1-8 was the scripture used in the morning message, “Growing Through Prayer.” Expanding on the morning Bible study, Bro. Tim challenged the congregation to be more involved in their own prayer life.  Prayer is described as communication between God and the spirit of man.  When we talk to God, faith is a precondition to our request.  We must have the faith that God will answer our prayers with what is best for us.  There is no perfect time, place, or length for talks with God.  Just do it.
