Tim Allen is a name in the entertainment field that most people will recognize.  He was the star comedian in the TV series, Home Improvement, and the voice of Buzz Lightyear in the movie, Toy Story.  However, most people may not know Allen spent twenty-eight months in prison after being arrested with 650 grams of cocaine in his possession.  For years, Allen struggled with addiction and alcoholism.  Although a church participant, he also struggled with his belief in God.  At the age of eleven, he lost his father in a drunk driver accident.  From that tragedy, Allen said he “had a tumultuous relationship with God.”  Eventually, through hard work and faith, Allen dedicated his life to Christ.  This reminds us of another person, the Apostle Paul, who turned his life around when he encountered Jesus (Acts 9:1-6).

Our adult Sunday morning Bible study series, “What We Believe,” ended last Sunday, with a study on baptism, citing multiple scriptures to confirm our belief.  Next Sunday, we will return to our usual classes.

In our morning worship, Georgia Randall blessed us with a beautiful solo of “I’d Rather Have Jesus.”  Bro Tim’s message continued on the theme of what we believe, also using multiple scriptures to substantiate our beliefs.  GVCC serves the Lord’s Supper (Communion) every Sunday, following the example of the early church (Acts 2:42).  Communion is much more than a symbol, but a communion with Christ and fellow Christians (1 Cor 10:15-16).  As we partake of the bread and juice, we are reminded of Jesus’ death and resurrection.  The more we understand God’s will, the more responsible we are to obey (Acts 2:38).

The Bible challenge question:  How does the Bible describe Nabal, the husband of Abigail? (I Samuel 25:3)
