Golden Valley Christian Church

There are stories told that can amuse us immensely.  One example is the story of the cleaning lady in an office complex who continually readjusted the Leaning Tower of Pisa painting, so that the “tower” would be straight!  Yet in the same manner, people continue to twist the scriptures to fit their own views.  When God says to not lie or steal, or to “love your neighbor as yourself,” or any other commandment, He actually means it.  The Bible is not a group of idle words, but words we are to live by.

Once again, the Golden Valley Christian Church has been saddened by the death of one of the church family.  Ben Dody was an extremely active member of GVCC.  He faithfully attended both, Sunday morning Bible study and worship service.  Ben loved to cook and was the inspiration for the GVCC cookbook.  The children were delighted by the “solar-powered dancing toys” that he loved to distribute for their amusement.  Ben will be sadly missed by the entire congregation.  We send our condolences to Ben’s family.

An old-fashioned revival was held at GVCC this week.  “The Texans,” featuring Sammy, Brenda, and Curtis Ray (a father, mother, and son group), brought music and preaching Sunday through Tuesday.  Curtis and Sam brought inspiring, God-filled messages.  Each man had an uncanny way of relating to those listening.  All that attended were truly blessed, and challenged to strive for more Christ-filled lives.

The Bible challenge question:  What warning did God give people about revenge? (Romans 12:19)
