Missouri is home to many historical figures, some famous and some little known.  Ella Ewing is one of these figures on the historical site, but few would recognize the name.  This lady was the tallest lady of her era.  Ella was born in 1872 at LaGrange, Missouri, in the northeast corner of the state.  At age 14, she was reported to have been 6’2” tall, and at full growth was 8’4”, wearing a size 24 shoe.  She became famous when she joined the Barnum & Bailey Circus. Ella died in 1913, just shy of 41 years of age.  The Bible tells of giants, also.  King Og of Bashan was one such giant, with a bed that was 9 cubits by 4 cubits, which translates to over 13’ by 6’.  (Deut 3:11)

Easter Sunday was a super day!  The weather was perfect, and GVCC was blessed with so many attending. The Easter breakfast was well attended, and our thanks go to the men who did the cooking.  An egg hunt was enjoyed by our young people.  The children opened the service with a song, “Lord, I Lift Your Name on High,” and later, Bob Fenwick sang “Oh, What a Savior.”  Three people gave inspiring testimonials.  Many of these events can be viewed on the GVCC Facebook page.  Wouldn’t it be great to have the Easter spirit each and every Sunday?

“What a Difference” was the title of Bro Tim’s message, with scripture from 1 Cor:15:1ff.  Just imagine the experience of seeing Jesus die a cruel death and then to know He was alive!  At one time, the cross simply was the symbol of a cruel death dictated by the Roman government.  Today, for Christians, that cross symbolizes Jesus, dying in our place.  We should all recognize what a short life span mankind has.  Therefore, let all Christians recognize what a difference Jesus has made in our lives.  Let us all share this good news with others.

The Bible challenge question:  Who were Moses’ mother and father? (Exodus 6:20)
