There are some important historical events that brought major changes into the world we should recognize.  The renaissance period is one period of tremendous change.  World Wars I and II were also world-changing events.  The American Revolution and the Great Depression had a direct influence on this nation.  However, probably one of the most lasting events, changing the world, happened many centuries ago.  The life of Jesus, from birth to death, was an event that altered the world and lives of countless numbers.  With the celebration of Easter, many millions will celebrate one of the world’s greatest stories ever told.  Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection changed the world and helped even those who will not accept Him.  No other person in history suffered as much indignation, torture, then death, to benefit millions of people, as Jesus did.  Even non-believers should give Jesus the credit for making this world a better place to live.  (Mark 10:33-34)

This Sunday (Easter) morning, there will be no 9:30 Bible classes at GVCC.  We will meet at 9:00 for breakfast, which will be followed by an egg hunt for the young people.  Worship service will be held at 10:30, with a great Easter message scheduled.  Another event is scheduled on Saturday, April 14th, from 9 AM – 3 PM:  Terry Rhoads, a minister from Liberty, Missouri, will speak about “Cosmic Conflict.”

Bro Tim’s message, using Isaiah 53:1-3, focused on Jesus.  People had a number of reasons for rejecting Jesus.  According to prophecy, He was not an attractive man.  Furthermore, some people did not believe He was the Messiah.  The people were expecting a “strong-man” type of leader.  Jesus was a humble man, an unlikely person to bring God’s message.  His words were mocked, He was despised and rejected, and some still reject Him today.
