Golden Valley Christian Church
There is an old story about a couple driving in a car one day. The wife turns to her husband as he steers the car and says, “Dear, why don’t we sit closer together like we used to?” To which the husband answers, dryly, “My dear, I am not the one who moved.” Probably every reader has heard this quip in one form or another. Could this be us, when we do not seem to feel God’s presence in our lives? God does not move. We are the ones that sometimes move from God. God has promised He will never leave us (Heb 13:5).
Last Sunday was a beautiful day, and one for which we gave thanks to God. Vacation Bible School may be more than three months in the future, but the planning has started with its first meeting. The GVCC revival is getting closer; we hope you will mark your calendar for March 11-13, 7 PM, and come join us. Next Sunday, March 4th, we will honor the babies in our congregation, praying for them and their parents. The GVCC Charity Crafters continue to meet on Thursdays at 5:30 PM.
Before last Sunday’s message, Sharon Seidel shared songs about “faith.” Bro Tim’s message, with scripture from Matthew 22:34-40, was entitled “God Cares, Do I?” This passage pertains to the question that was posed to Jesus, about the greatest commandment. Jesus used the parable of “The Good Samaritan” (Luke 10:30-37) as an example for all of us. God loves us, and expects us to love and help others. But He is also a just God. Jesus was patient and kind, yet he took a whip to the money changers in the temple. All of God’s commandments are to help us live a full, happy life.
The Bible challenge question: What was the question that led to the parable of “The Good Samaritan?” (Luke 10:25-28)
