Golden Valley Christian Church

Have you ever heard of Sallie Ann Jarrett?  If you ever visit Gettysburg National Military Park, you can see a bronze statue of her.  Sallie Ann was a type of pit bull dog, given to the Eleventh Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers as a puppy.  She was named for the commanding officer, Colonel P. Jarrett, and a lady friend of the colonel.  She was extremely devoted to the men of that regiment, going into every major battle with them, usually leading the way.  Sallie was wounded once, before eventually being killed in the Battle of Hatchers Run.  If a dog can give that kind of devotion to men, should we not give greater devotion to our Savior, Jesus Christ?

Once again, Golden Valley Christian Church has been asked to help our church camp, West Central Christian Service Camp, with food for the summer campers.  Through mid-May, we will be collecting cans of any type of beans.

Bro. Tim’s message focused again on the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Galatians.  Paul made a contrast between slavery in the law of Moses, and freedom in the teachings of Jesus.  Our salvation is free because Jesus paid the cost on the cross.  The Apostle Paul admonished the people in that church to remain strong in the teachings of Jesus, and not return to the Jewish law of Moses.

The Bible challenge question:  Who tied his own feet to warn the Apostle Paul not to go to Jerusalem? (Acts 21:10-12)
