Mankind has been inventing things since the beginning of time, starting with the wheel.  Fire was not invented; it was discovered.  There are many lists from individuals, naming the most important early inventions.  Some of the most common choices are 1) 1432 – the printing press; 2) 1876 – telephone; 3) 1879 – electric light bulb; 4) 1885 – first practical automobile; 5) 1903 – airplane.  There’s no question that each of these inventions have enriched the lives of mankind.  However, while not an invention, the one thing that actually changed the world was the life of Jesus and His Word through the Bible.  Without Jesus and His teachings, mankind would still be in darkness, and the hope of everlasting life would be unknown. (John 3:16)

The GVCC family sends condolences to Cheri Gregory and her family due to the recent death of her father-in-law.  Easter is rapidly approaching, and GVCC is preparing for it.  Easter Sunday tradition is for the men of the church to cook breakfast, giving the ladies a break.  The gentlemen are really good cooks, so the ladies are happy to take advantage of this.  The youngsters will be invited to participate in an egg hunt, following our breakfast.  Easter Sunday is a joyous day for all Christians to give honor to our blessed risen Lord!

GVCC was privileged to host a three-day revival this past week, led by Johnathan Mast, Minister, and Matt Campbell, Worship Minister, both from Hillside Christian Church in Amarillo, Texas. Sunday morning was the first message of a “Portraits of Jesus” series, describing “Jesus as God” (John 10:30).  The remaining three sermons related how Jesus is a servant, priest, and savior.  We were so blessed with great messages and wonderful music.  A big thank you to all who participated in Sunday’s carry-in lunch, and for the additional dishes provided to help feed our guests, who gratefully reported that they were very well fed!
