Golden Valley Christian Church
The Bible tells us of many miracles, but do you believe there are miracles today? If not, you have probably not heard about a 22-year-old lady, Morgan Lake. This young lady was in her car on the Maryland Chesapeake Bay Bridge, when a huge tractor-trailer truck rear-ended her car. The impact threw Lake’s car over the bridge railing, with a forty-foot drop into the water. The car immediately submerged but, miraculously, Lake was still conscious and was able to crawl out a window that was broken by the impact. She managed to rise to the surface of the water and swim to one of the pillars holding the bridge, where she was rescued. The only injuries Lake suffered from this horrific ordeal was a sprained ankle and elbow. Jesus performed many miracles. Perhaps one of his most memorable ones was bringing a man, dead for four days, back to life (John 11:1-44).
After the huge snowfall, our vicinity was blessed with a beautiful day last Sunday. When asked why he did not scoop his sidewalk after a big snow, a gentleman once said, “The good Lord giveth, and the good Lord will taketh away.” How true that is, even if it takes a few days! The GV Crafters continue to meet on Tuesdays at 10:00 AM. Bible study, on the chronological life of Christ, is held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday evenings.
The message the Church was sharing, was the topic of Bro Elmer’s message last Sunday, with scripture from Acts 2:22-24, 36-39. God directed a plan for salvation: He sent Jesus, who was crucified, raised from the dead, and is Lord and Christ, which then allows forgiveness of sin when we believe, repent, and are baptized. Some of the message also came from Romans, with Paul telling us that all of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, but are justified by grace through Jesus (Romans 3:23-24). This is the message that must be brought to the entire world, so that every person has a chance for redemption and eternal life with Christ. As Christians, our work is to get this news to all people.
