Golden Valley Christian Church
Clinton has experienced some extremely miserable weather these last few weeks. On one night alone, lightning, thunder, freezing rain, and large hail stones hit the community. Parts of the town were excluded from the hail, but all of the town received freezing rain. Not only that, but cold weather gripped the community for a number of days. This weather undoubtedly will go down in the record books. While our country is in the midst of this type of weather, the Southern Hemisphere is in a summer month, equal to our month of August. As the old saying goes, “this, too, shall pass,” for Spring is on the way. (Song of Songs 2:11-12)
While attendance was down, a number of GVCC attendees braved the cold and ice to be in our church services last Sunday. We were blessed with a beautiful solo by Frances Burris, singing “He Touched Me.” Georgia Randall blessed us the previous Sunday, too. These beautiful specials in music can be seen on the GVCC Facebook. People are still invited to bring their wedding pictures next week, as we celebrate a belated Valentine’s Day.
“Rooted and Established” was the title of Bro Tim’s message, with Bible verses from Ephesians 3:14-21. These verses are the Apostle Paul’s prayer, concerning the love of God for His people and the love we should feel for God. Bro Tim used three parables of Jesus--the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son--showing how God loves each person and does not want anyone to be lost. To love God also means we must take action to show that love. Nobody can separate you from God’s love, except yourself. (Romans 8:35-39)
The Bible challenge question: While in the desert, what method did Moses use to communicate with the people? (Numbers 10:1-7)
