“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” (Psalm 150:6) Did you realize that a person takes approximately eighteen breaths a minute; 1,080 times an hour; 25,920 times a day? By the time a person is forty years old, there have been more than 378 million breaths taken. Each one of these breaths is a gift from God, and He asks you to give Him the credit. Without this marvelous gift, you would die within a short time. Yet, most people don’t even give that a second thought. Let us all remember, “. . . He himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.” (Acts 17:25) Our God is so good!
The Golden Valley Christian Church was blessed last Sunday morning with a mixed quartet, featuring all four parts, singing a beautiful, uplifting song, “Still Sweeter Every Day.” Thanks so much to Georgia Randall, Rosanna Cross, Ken Jones, and Bob Fenwick, with Marla Jones accompanying them on the piano. We hope this group will be part of our worship service many times in the future. Our prayer list constantly grows; we need to keep these people in mind, especially this time of the year, with so many contagious “bugs” in the air.
“Consequently” was the title of the Sunday message, with scripture from Romans 10:17. Bro. Tim pointed out, just as the human body needs food for health and nourishment, the soul needs “food” for its health and nourishment. This fact cannot be overestimated in the needs of our spiritual body. The place Christians receive their spiritual food is from the scriptures of the Bible. A poll was taken recently showing how few people read the Bible on a daily basis. This is a sad fact for our nation. We must do better if we are going to keep our souls in tip-top condition. Our spiritual life depends on it.
