Golden Valley Christian Church
There are a number of facts most of us would consider "odd." Did you know it was New Zealand that first gave women the right to vote? Or did you know that Monrovia, the capital of Liberia, is named after President James Monroe; or that President John Tyler had fifteen children? These facts may be interesting, but they're not relevant to our own lives. However, there are facts in a very important book that are relevant to our lives. Of course, it is the Bible, and the main fact is that God sent His son, Jesus, to be our Savior, if we only believe in Him. Reading the Bible through the year would be one of the greatest New Year's resolutions we could make.
With Christmas over, now comes the task of removing all of the beautiful decorations we have enjoyed the last few weeks. This act will be done at Golden Valley Christian Church this Saturday, for those willing to help. This coming Sunday will be a special day as we ordain our newly elected elders.
In the absence of Bro. Tim, we were blessed to have Bro. Bob Fenwick fill our pulpit. Bro. Bob used the parable of the prodigal son, taken from Luke 15:11-31, as the example for his message. After squandering his entire inheritance, Jesus tells us the young man finally came to his senses and went home to his father. This could be any of us today, when we finally realize how much we need our heavenly father. Any one of us could be called from this world at a moment's notice; we need to recognize this fact and be ready.
The Bible challenge question: Who is the only woman in the Bible who is described as both beautiful and intelligent? (I Samuel 25:3)
