Please don’t tell this to your children, especially boys, but did you know Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer was a girl? Two scientists from Edinburgh University have stated that Rudolph cannot be a boy because male reindeer shed their antlers by the middle of December, while female reindeer keep theirs through the winter. Rudolph is pictured with antlers. Therefore, Rudolph is a girl reindeer. We can laugh at this conclusion because we know that the story of Rudolph is a fairy tale and myth. There are other myths that we cannot laugh away. Supposedly, an ancient manuscript has been discovered, that says Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene and had children. There are other false myths about Jesus, including one that says He was just a fabrication. As Christians, we know that Jesus existed and is a living force in our lives. We celebrate this time of the year, knowing Jesus is real. It is because of our faith that we will be with Jesus someday (Eph 2:8).
Last Sunday was such a special day. The young people and some very willing older people delivered a wonderful, delightful Christmas program. Thanks so much to Melynne Jones and her willing helpers, giving us the privilege to watch a heartwarming children’s view of the birth of our Lord Jesus. Not only did the children do their part, but a group of ladies sang, as did a group of men. We also had a solo by Frances Burris and a mixed quartet by Georgia Randall, Rosanna Cross, Ken Jones, and David Harrison. The entire program was dedicated to this wonderful Christmas season and to the birth of Jesus. The program will be on YouTube for all to watch. After the program, a bountiful Christmas meal was served. It takes many people to provide for all the activities we enjoyed this special day. Thanks are given to each one that helped, both for the program and the meal. We, at the Golden Valley Christian Church, have indeed been blessed.
Golden Valley Christian Church meets at 611 South Third Street in Clinton. Sunday School classes begin at 9:30 AM, and the morning worship service is at 10:30.
