Golden Valley Christian Church

Jesus was a tremendous story teller; the Bible calls these stories parables.  The best part was that each story had a definite lesson for every person who was listening.  Not only were those stories relevant for listeners of Jesus’ day, but they are still relevant for modern-day readers.  Some of the stories were a little like riddles, and Jesus would have to explain the meaning of the parable.  The book of Matthew is full of many of these stories.  Starting at Chapter 13 in Matthew, there are five parables, one right after the other. You might enjoy reading them.

Although it is the middle of winter, our VBS director, Melynne Jones, is looking ahead and preparing for that event, with a scheduled meeting of helpers.  We also have a mixed quartet that is practicing a song we look forward to hearing.  On the 29th, we will be welcoming a group from Show-Me Christian Youth Home.  We will have a joint Sunday School, with the group from Show-Me leading the session that morning.

“Our Future” was the title of Bro. Tim’s message last Sunday.  Our ultimate goal is to be welcomed into Heaven at the end of our earthly days.  Bro. Tim, through scripture, gave us an insight into what we can expect when we do reach our goal.  We know it will be a place of worship, and it will be one continuous day, because there is no darkness or night in heaven.  God will remove all things that cause tears, so there will be no suffering or pain.  It will be a place of joy and happiness.  If there is any goal in life worth working for, this should be it.
