Golden Valley Christian Church
GVCC enjoyed a wonderful Sunday afternoon with a "Family Christmas Tea." The church dining room was beautifully decorated in a Christmas theme. A puzzle was on each table, but when put together, there was one piece missing. Melynne Jones read a delightful story about Humphrey the camel, pertaining to Christmas giving, and solving the mystery of the missing puzzle piece. Jo Ann Snider made beautiful Christmas ornaments that were later given to each family. Some of the guests wore beautifully decorated hats which were judged, with prizes given. Door prizes were given all during the afternoon. Jo Ann and Alyssa Tucker read a devotional, "What God Wants for Christmas." At the end of the devotional, we each opened a gift sack to find a mirror, revealing what God really wants for Christmas. Everyone enjoyed an abundance of wonderful cookies, candies, sandwiches, hot chocolate, and different kinds of tea's. The TLC Dulcimer Band provided beautiful music. Judy Harris and Paula Phillips, who worked so diligently to make this event the wonderful success it was, generated the idea of the Christmas Tea. Many, many thanks go to Judy, Paula, Jo Ann, Georgia, Melynne, Alyssa, and all who brought food and attended. After the program, a group went Christmas caroling, taking a plate of "goodies" to each home they visited. It was a memorable day, and we give all glory to our Lord.
In our morning service, Bro. Tim's message was taken from Isaiah 61:1-3, entitled "Anticipating Christmas." The Ryan Mendenhall family lit the third advent candle. Mary Tuggle read a Christmas poem, "One Snowy Night."
