Golden Valley Christian Church

Did you know that at one time in our nation, celebrating Christmas was illegal?  The Puritans and Pilgrims condemned the celebration, believing it was part of pagan worship.  It was not until the 19th century that the objection to this idea was swept aside, and both Catholics and Protestants renewed this grand celebration.  Although, in our modern times, commercialism seems to dominate the Christmas spirit, it is up to each individual as to how the birth of our Savior is treated.  Hopefully, we will always remember the real reason for this wonderful season.

In last Sunday's worship hour, Rosanna Cross and Marla Jones sang a medley of Christmas songs a capella.  We all love our musical instruments, but there is nothing more enjoyable than beautiful harmony in voices alone.  The Williams family lighted our third advent candle.  Bro. Tim's message, entitled "Jesus Came to Give Abundant Life," helped to remind us all of the blessings we are given through our belief in Jesus.  The bottom line is:  Jesus Christ can make a difference if we will allow Him to do so.  Sunday night, a group from Golden Valley Christian Church met together and went on an "old time" Christmas caroling tour around the neighborhood.  They returned to the church for fellowship, games, and food.  It was a delightful evening.

The Bible challenge question is:  "What special order was John the Baptist given?"  (Luke 1:15)

The Golden Valley Christian Church meets at 611 South Third Street in Clinton.  Our Sunday Bible classes begin at 9:30 AM, and morning worship is at 10:30 AM.  Our full-time minister is Bro. Tim Randall (office phone #660-890-0252), and our website is www.goldenvalleycc.org.  We are happy to invite you to attend our services, where you will always receive a warm welcome.
