There is no doubt Christmas is in the air and on its way.  It is all around us—the beautiful Christmas carols and the secular songs, like “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas,” or “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.”  We are bombarded with ads to buy this, or buy that, for Christmas giving.  When did this all start?  It has crept upon us, bit by bit, for generations.  But the real meaning of Christmas is a baby, born to give believers salvation.  One mystery is when Jesus was actually born.  Why do we celebrate His birth on December 25th?  The Bible does not give the actual date Jesus was born.  There is one theory that the date was chosen because of the Winter Solstice and the ancient pagan Roman mid-winter festivals.  The most vital part of Christmas is to worship that baby who was placed in a manger as the deity we know as Jesus.

Last Sunday was such a nice day, despite the chill in the air.  We were blessed with two musical solos--one by Atticus Jones on the trombone, playing “Jingle Bells,” and one by his sister, Abrielle, playing “Good King Wenceslas” on the piano.  Sunday night, we gathered to go caroling to a number of places.  We also enjoyed a chili and soup meal in-between the caroling.  It was a wonderful evening for those attending.

Bro Tim’s message was entitled “Sigh,” based on scripture from Job 3:23-26.  All of us have, at one time or another, had bad times in our lives.  Some may be financial, some can be health problems, or great sadness.  Job, too, had bad times.  He had lost all he owned, plus his health.  Through all of this, Job did not turn against God.  Even King David had his bad times.  These great Biblical men trusted God and turned to him.  When we have major tribulations, we should trust and turn to Jesus. We are promised a time when there will no longer be bad times, and there will be a place in Heaven just for us.
