Golden Valley Christian Church

Thanksgiving is over, so now we are definitely in the celebration of Christmas.  Last Friday, we watched the Clinton Christmas Parade, as the decorated vehicles, people, and animals marched around the courthouse square.  The streets were lined with people enjoying the beautiful sights.  Did you know there was a parade during Biblical days, and Jesus was in it?  It may not have been officially called a parade, but it had every appearance of that term.  This happened just before Jesus went into the temple and drove out the moneychangers (Matt 21:6-11).

GVCC Christmas activities are starting this Sunday, December 3rd, when the young people will present their program.  These young people have been preparing for weeks, and we are all looking forward to their presentation.  We invite all the parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, neighbors, and friends to this program.  On the tenth day of this month, we will go caroling.  It was such a pleasure to listen to Victoria Gregory play “Amazing Grace” on her recorder last Sunday morning.  You can see and hear much of our special music on our Facebook page.  The young people in the church are all encouraged to share their talents; Victoria is one very young lady that does that.

With Bro Tim and Georgia on vacation, Ken Jones filled in with a really great communion meditation.  The message was about how we have been blessed.  Christians, through Jesus, will inherit eternal life.  From the time Jesus died until He returns is part of God’s plan.  The fulfillment of God’s plan is the church, and we are His image on earth (Eph 1:15-23).  God will one day live with men on the new earth (Rev 21:3).  This is the grand hope all Christians have through our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Bible challenge question:  David was Solomon’s father, but who was Solomon’s mother? (Matt 1:6)
