Do you remember the name Manuel Noriega?  Last Sunday, Bro Tim reminded us of this infamous Panama dictator.  At one time, this man had been an informant to the U.S. on the drug cartels.  Later, during his reign as the Panama dictator, he became viciously cruel to his opponents and more involved with the cartel, allowing the drugs to pass through Panama to the U.S., enriching his own coffers.  When a Panamanian soldier killed a U.S. serviceman and wounded others, George Bush, in December 1989, ordered American troops to invade Panama and capture Noriega.  This was done, and Noriega was tried and convicted in the U.S. federal court.  During his days in prison, he was visited by Christian evangelists, and he became a born-again Christian.  God forgives a truly repentant sinner, even a man like Noriega.

Sharon Seidel blessed the congregation with the beautiful, old-time song, Peace in the Valley. Sharon was accompanied by Ken Jones, on the mandolin, and Marla Jones, on the piano.  Richard Blake, executive director of Christian Prison Ministry of Mid-America, brought an annual update on the prison ministry.  There are only four weeks until the Christmas program by our youth.  We encourage parents to make sure their children attend the remaining play practices.

“From Lost to Found,” with opening scripture from 2 Chron 33:9, was the title of Bro Tim’s message.  Bro Tim posed the questions, “What does God think of really bad people?  If they repent, will God forgive them?”  He used King Manasseh as an example—how he had restored all the evil things his father, King Hezekiah, had abolished, which turned Manasseh into an evil king.  God used Assyria to capture Manasseh and take him to Babylon.  During his captivity, Manasseh humbled himself before God.  God heard Manasseh’s pleas and returned him back to his kingdom. (2 Chron 33:12-13)
