Golden Valley Christian Church

Have you ever had others do something especially nice for you, and you referred to them as "angels?"  The Bible tells us very forcefully that there are angels among us, and they are sent to serve those who love God.  Angels rescued Lot from Sodom, closed the mouths of the lions for Daniel, strengthened Jesus in Gethsemane, told the ladies at the tomb that Jesus had arisen, and the list goes on.  If God sends angels to help us, should we not use that example to help others?  Caring for and loving others is one of the main teachings of Jesus.  It helps distinguish the Christian beliefs from other religions.

There was a wee bit of sadness to see the Christmas decorations all removed from our church building last Sunday.  Many thanks to those who decorated, as well as those who worked to restore the building back to "normal."  We welcomed Bro. Tim back to the pulpit from his holiday vacation.  Last Sunday, our recently elected elders were ordained for their new positions.  GVCC is blessed to have such young Christian men so willing to take on this responsibility.

We are starting a new year, so now is the time for change.  Using scripture from Matthew 3:13-17, Bro. Tim pointed out how Jesus started a new chapter of his life, commencing with His baptism.  This was the beginning of Jesus' ministry.  Now is the time for us to actually become serious about changing our lives.  The best way for a new life is through Jesus.  There are so many stories of people feeling helpless, searching for something.  The Bible has answers if we will open it, read it, and obey it.  That will make a tremendous difference in lives.
