Golden Valley Christian Church
The Bible is a book that should be read and studied by all. If put into action, the words of the Bible can change lives. There are also some fascinating facts connected with it. The shortest verse in the Bible contains only two words (John 11:35). The longest verse is Esther 8:9. The longest name in the Bible is in Isaiah 8:3. Adam’s name is from Hebrew, adama, which means “ground.” The Bible is the best-selling book in history, and today more Bibles are made in China than anywhere else. Many artists depict Jesus with fair skin, some even with blonde hair and blue eyes. This is highly unlikely, as Jesus was from the middle east and likely had features of that part of the world, which is dark skin, hair, and eyes.
Sunday was a busy day for the congregation of GVCC. Mark Radtke, approved by a vote of the church, was ordained as a deacon. Mark and his wife, Mary, are active members of the church. Through the month of January, GVCC will be celebrating its 10th anniversary. The actual opening service of the church was on January 4, 2009. Last Sunday, Mary Tuggle read the history of GVCC. Ten people were in attendance that had also been at the very first service. Our thanks to all of the visitors that came to help celebrate this milestone of the church.
Bro Tim’s message, entitled “A Time to Remember,” used scripture from the fourth chapter of Joshua. Bro Tim asked, “What does Jesus mean to you? How has He affected your life?” These are questions that each Christian should consider and answer. Why should we have memorials? Because we tend to forget. A memorial of stones was made when the people of Israel crossed on dry ground. God ordered this as a memorial for future generations (Joshua 4:1-7).
The Bible challenge question: Did Jesus baptize anyone? (John 4:1-2)
