Golden Valley Christian Church

There is a story of a man who is trying to invite his neighbor to attend church services. He did not want to jeopardize the chance to witness to this neighbor by appearing to be too "religious." He finally asked the neighbor, "Where do you think sinners go?" The quick answer was, "To Hell." "No," the man replied, "They go to church." The neighbor did not know what to say. Think about that for a moment. Christians know they are sinners. Remember, a church is not a palace for saints, but a hospital for sinners.

The youth are such a joy in our church. Last Sunday, we were blessed by Victoria Gregory, as she did sign language for the song, "Holy Spirit." There is no doubt that God loved it, as did the congregation. Ladies' Bible study will continue on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM. A men's study will begin this Saturday, at 8:00 AM. Either group would welcome you.

Bro. Tim's message, "When Disaster Strikes," came from one of the minor prophets, Joel, detailing a terrible disaster striking his nation. In dealing with this disaster, Joel gives advice that still applies to this age. He told the people to mourn, and when that period was over, to assemble as a group; there is always strength and comfort as we gather together. The next steps are to pray and return to God. Finally, we are to trust God. All of us need to be thankful our God is patient and slow to anger--for now. On the day of judgment, God's grace and compassion will end.
