Golden Valley Christian Church
This small planet we live on has some amazing, beautiful scenes. The United States has its share of beautiful places to visit. The Grand Canyon is one of the most popular vacation spots in this country; the Canyon touches four states, while the Colorado River runs through seven states as it flows to and through the Canyon. World-wide, the most popular spot is the Great Barrier Reef, in Australia. China has one of the most beautiful mountains in the world, called the Rainbow Mountain; this mountain has many colors due to the mineral deposits in it and has captivated people with its beauty. When we think of so many beautiful spots that have been created for the pleasure of mankind, we should be reminded that our God probably had this in mind as He created the universe (Gen 1:1-2).
Activities increase as this year rushes toward the end. The young people are already practicing for their Christmas program. Remember to bring items before November 14th, to fill shoeboxes for the Operation Christmas Child project. Bible study continues Wednesdays at 7:00 PM, and the GV Charity Crafters are hard at work on Tuesday mornings, starting at 10:00 AM.
Bro Elmer’s message was taken from James 3:13-18. In this amazing book, James is very forthright in his writings, perhaps like today’s equivalent of “telling it like it is.” This discussion was about two different kinds of wisdom and how to differentiate. Wisdom is about ethics and the way we live. “Worldly wisdom” can cause conflict with other people. James tells us that if we harbor bitter envy (strong jealousy) and selfish ambition (causing division), this will result in disorder and is certainly not from Heaven. “Heavenly wisdom” is pure, and we should strive to be peacemakers, getting along with others and treating people well. We show wisdom by how we treat our fellow mankind and by our deeds done in humility.
