Golden Valley Christian Church

Last Sunday our congregation sang the old song, "There Shall be Showers of Blessings," as we all thanked God for the gentle rain we received over the weekend.  Another blessing our church family received Sunday was the sound of very sweet voices, those of Sarah and Jake Mendenhall, singing "Jesus Loves Me" and "This Little Light of Mine."  The voices of little children touch all of us.  A number of their family was in attendance to listen to Sarah and Jake's "debut" and also to help Sarah celebrate her birthday.

Two of our family, Ron Snider and Jerry Harris, have received encouraging health news.  We give God praise and glory for this hopeful news.  One of GVCC's charter members, Kenneth Tuggle, has been in Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare this week.  We solicit prayers for better health for all of these men.

Bro. Tim's message, continuing on the topic of angels, was entitled "Angels and Their Classes."  This is a fascinating subject, with the Bible making many references to the angels.  The classes of angels include:  1) Cherubim, 2) Seraphim, and 3) Archangels, each with a specific duty ordered by God.  Two angels, Michael and Gabriel, are named in the Bible:  Michael is described as "one of the chief princes" (Dan. 10:13); Gabriel is the archangel who announced the coming birth of Jesus to Mary (Luke 1:26-31).  We should all remember that there are always angels in our midst.

The Bible challenge question is:  "Which one of Jesus' disciples was a thief?"  (John 12:4-6)
