Golden Valley Christian Church
How many of you witnessed the "super moon" last Saturday night? We were told it was fourteen percent larger than normal because it was closer to Earth than any other time of the year. Just looking at that beautiful sight, the words in Psalm 8:3 came to mind, "When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place . . ." God, in His great wisdom, has given us so much beauty to counteract the ugliness man has created on this earth. Our job is just to look for that beauty.
In the absence of our regular song leader and pianist, Georgia Randall and Rosanna Cross did a great job filling in for them. We appreciate the willingness of our members to help when the need arises. With Mother's Day approaching, Mary Tuggle did a reading entitled "Alone Time for Mom."
Bro. Tim's message, entitled "More Life-Changing Principles," centered on our need to give financially to God. A question presented to us was, "Do you give because of love for God or a duty to God?" It is vital to have a cheerful, loving attitude in our giving. Second Corinthians 9:7 tells us, " . . .God loves a cheerful giver." It is impossible to outgive God. Bro. Tim gave this quote, "There was a man, they called him mad . . . the more he gave, the more he had." We might all try that!
The Bible challenge question is: "What does Jesus say about giving?" (Luke 6:38)
The Golden Valley Christian Church meets at 611 South Third Street. Bible classes begin at 9:30 AM, and morning worship is at 10:30 AM. Our 6 PM evening service will be cancelled on Mother's Day. We are preparing for a dedication service for our "new" building, so mark your calendar, and join us at 1:30 PM, May 20, 2012. Our full-time minister is Bro. Tim Randall (office phone # 660-890-0252), and our website is goldenvalleycc.org. We are happy to invite you to attend our services, where you will always receive a warm welcome.
