It is always a joy to be in the house of the Lord, but this past Sunday was special. For openers, the weather cooperated with a warm, sunny day. Our chairs filled with church family for a morning of praising our Lord in song and message. For the musical special, Rosanna Cross, Marla Jones, and Tom Pullen made us all feel "mighty fine," singing a toe-tapping, joyful song, "I'm Feeling Fine." For a double blessing, one of our faithful, Evelyn Gerlt, answered the invitation call, placing her membership with Golden Valley Christian Church. That evening, with special thanks to Paula Phillips and Judy Harris, the GVCC family enjoyed a "baked potato bar" with all of the trimmings and desserts. Praise and glory to our awesome God for all of these wonderful blessings.
The title of Bro. Tim's message was "Foolish, Mercy and Grace." This concept is simple and straightforward. We, too, are foolish, but because of His mercy, we are justified by his grace. We have all been foolish, as First John 1:8 tells us, "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us." The way we receive that wonderful mercy and grace of God is through our belief in God's one and only Son, dying on the cross to pardon our sins. What a powerful message that is for all who will listen and believe.
The Bible challenge question is: "How many times did Jesus say we are to forgive?" (Matt. 18:21-22)
The Golden Valley Christian Church meets at 611 South Third Street. Sunday morning Bible classes begin at 9:30 AM, and morning worship is at 10:45 AM. Our full-time minister is Bro.
