Recently, a news article told of a man in Iran that was going to be executed if he did not denounce his Christian beliefs. If you were faced with that dilemma, what would you do? Thank God, we live in a country where our religious beliefs are protected. There is a fact, though, that none of us can deny: Religious beliefs cannot be forced on people. While God wants all people to accept his grace and salvation, He does not force that upon anyone (II Pet 3:9). God always knows our inner thoughts and cannot be fooled (Gal 6:7).
We know from the scriptures that all of us are given some kind of talent. One of these talents can be a beautiful singing voice. Robina Briggs' daughter, Glenda Sapp, has this talent, and she shared it with the Golden Valley Christian Church family in our morning worship by singing "His Eye is On the Sparrow."
Bro. Tim's message, entitled "A Righteousness from God," was about God's laws. One thing is clear: God is God, and God's laws are God's laws. The Bible tells us if we break God's law, there will be a penalty. We learn in Romans 6:23, "we all are sinners and have fallen short of the glory of God." Therefore, by all rights, we should pay the penalty. Thankfully, God stepped down from Heaven to die on the cross to save all believers. Jesus paid our debt in full.
The Bible challenge question is: "Why did King Herod have John the Baptist arrested?" (Matt. 14:3-4)

Thought for the week: "If a task is once begun, never leave it 'til it's done. Be the labor great or small, do it well or not at all." --Copied
