The people who lived through the Great Depression of the 1930’s and World War II are diminishing at a rapid rate.  As these eyewitnesses depart, future generations will only have the written word to enlighten them about these terrible events that hit our nation.  As those of us today only know our past history through the writings of people who lived in those days, so it is with our Bible.  We rely on the eyewitness accounts of people in Biblical days to enlighten us about that time period.  Some skeptics have tried to prove discrepancies in the Bible, but each theory, when compared to other parts of the scripture, always falls apart.  Yes, there are unanswered questions in the Bible--all the more reason to desire to go to Heaven and have Jesus answer these questions, face to face.

July’s heat is now upon us.  Despite the heat, Sunday was a great day at GVCC.  The air conditioner was working just fine, and we were all happy to see so many in attendance.  This coming Sunday, Bob Fenwick will be filling the pulpit.  Bob always brings a good message.

“Loyalty” was the title of Bro. Tim’s message.  The focus of loyalty came from the book of Ruth.  The Jewish religion of today still considers this book a very important one.  When a lady named Naomi found herself in a foreign country with her husband and both sons dead, she returned to her native land of Israel.  One daughter-in-law, Ruth, returned with Naomi.  Ruth uttered one of the most well-known verses in the Bible (Ruth 1:16).  Ruth eventually married Naomi’s kinsman redeemer, Boaz.  Boaz and Ruth became the great grandparents of King David, and ancestors of Jesus.

The Bible challenge question:  Who was the mother of Rehoboam, wife of King Solomon? (I Kings 14:21)
