The way you spend your hard-earned wages is a personal thing.  Of course, the most prudent thing is to pay your bills and obligations first.  Spending money when you do not have it is just another thing to get into trouble over.  You might consult what the Bible says about that very thing.  Consider the story of a lady who wanted a new bedspread, but did not have the money for it.  Nevertheless, she decided to order it and put the purchase on her credit card.  Before sending the order, she did her daily Bible reading, and Proverbs 22:27 popped up unexpectedly.  Needless to say, the bedspread was not purchased.  Look that passage up, and you will see why.  God expects us to use our money wisely and to give to Him what is His.  Everything we have belongs to Him; He’s just loaning it to us for our visit here on earth.

This Sunday is Father’s Day.  Everyone is asked to bring a picture of themselves with their father, which will be placed on display.  We concluded Bible School and hoped all the children learned and enjoyed from this yearly program.

The focus of our morning Bible study and Bro. Tim’s message was about “Silence and Solitude” (Psalm 46:10).  Our society is truly not geared for silence.  In his message, Bro. Tim made several points about the positive effects of silence.  We can retreat to a place that allows us to give God our undivided attention.  Silence allows us to listen and to meditate.  Using this intimate time with God, we can learn how to glorify Him by doing good works.  Jesus did all of this, and He is our number one example.

The Bible challenge question:  After deporting the Israelites of Samaria, who did the King of Assyria bring to replace them? (2 Kings 17:24 )
