Golden Valley Christian Church

Memorial Day will soon be here.  Originally, it was called Decoration Day, when first observed on May 30, 1868, to honor the Civil War dead by decorating their graves with flowers.  It was later extended to honor all of our war heroes who died while serving in the armed forces, but the day is also utilized to remember deceased loved ones.  We do not have a grave to honor our Lord Jesus, but we do have a memorial service every Sunday at Golden Valley Christian Church.  This memorial was set up by no other than Jesus himself, the night before his death.  We call it the Lord's Supper, when each believing Christian partakes of the bread and juice.

Last Sunday, Abrielle Jones and her grandmother, Marla Jones, blessed us with a piano duet.  Marla is our church pianist, and we hope Abrielle will follow in her grandmother's footsteps.  This will be the last week to bring the chili or refried beans to church, to be delivered to our West Central Christian Service Camp.

"Passing On Our Christian Values," the title of Bro. Tim's message, was about how we parents, as Christians, teach our children.  Some of the things we must instill in them is the fact that God is the creator and sustainer of this world.  They need to know the reality of the Bible.  We cannot isolate our children from the world's problems, but we should prepare them as best we can.  We need to teach them to pray, and live a Christian example for them.

The Bible challenge question: What was the Hebrew name of Shadrach, who was cast in the fiery furnace? (Daniel 1:6-7)

Golden Valley Christian Church meets at 611 South Third Street in Clinton. Sunday Bible classes begin at 9:30 AM; morning worship is at 10:30.  Our minister is Tim Randall (office phone #660-890-0252), and our website is www.goldenvalleycc.org.  We are happy to invite you to attend our services, where you will always receive a warm welcome.
