Golden Valley Christian Church

There is an old earthly saying, "God couldn't be everywhere, so He created mothers." Golden Valley Christian Church honored the mothers in the church last Sunday. Two beautiful hanging flower baskets adorned the platform, on either side of the pulpit. A drawing was held, and two very appreciative mothers each received a basket. The children of the church decorated bookmarks during children's church, and at the end of the service, the bookmarks were handed out to the ladies in attendance. It was a very heartwarming day!

The daylight hours are growing longer, and the summer activities will soon be starting. GVCC is preparing for Vacation Bible School. The ladies Bible study continues with a good attendance, learning about the history of our church, what we believe, and why.

Bro. Tim started his message with a bit of humor, as he read a number of universal statements that mothers say to their children, many on a daily basis. As the statements were read, many chuckles could be heard as the mothers recognized themselves with their own children. Then Bro. Tim turned to the story of Sarah. Even the strongest of faiths sometimes fail, as in the case of Abraham who complied with his wife's insistence to take Hagar as a method to bear a child for them. Sarah was wrong to encourage this, and Bro. Tim suggested Abraham made a poor choice when he agreed to do it. They both disregarded God's promise that Sarah would have a child. Unfortunately, the habit of disregarding God's promises and commandments is still common.

The Bible challenge question: Did God give Ishmael any promises? (Gen 21:12-13)

Golden Valley Christian Church meets at 611 South Third Street in Clinton. Sunday Bible classes begin at 9:30 AM; morning worship is at 10:30. Our minister is Tim Randall (office phone #660-890-0252), and our website is www.goldenvalleycc.org. We are happy to invite you to attend our services, where you will always receive a warm welcome.
