Golden Valley Christian Church

Now that Thanksgiving is over, our sights are on Christmas.  The celebration of Christmas had a rocky start in the United States.  It had even been outlawed in some places.  However, after the Civil War, the first three states to make Christmas a legal holiday were Alabama, Louisiana, and Arkansas.  In 1870, Christmas was finally declared a federal holiday.  Despite the current materialism of this day, Christmas is the celebration of our Lord Jesus' birthday.  We all need to be reminded of that fact and remember to "keep Christmas in our hearts."  Golden Valley Christian Church will be presenting a Christmas program the morning of December 7th. Melynne Jones is coordinating this annual event, which we are all looking forward to.

"The Story" continues in our Sunday School and morning service.  The title of this week's study was "The Faith of a Foreign Woman" and told the story of Ruth.  Bro. Tim pointed out how God took a disaster (famine and death) and brought something good from it.  Elimelek, Naomi, and their two sons had moved to Moab because of a famine.  All three men died, and Naomi, along with her daughter-in-law, Ruth, returned to Israel.  Eventually, Ruth married Boaz, a kinsman of Naomi, and had a son Obed.  Through Obed, Ruth became the great-grandmother of King David and an ancestor of Jesus.  God uses many people and circumstances to further His great plans.

The Bible challenge question is:  "Who enlightened the Jews that Gentiles could be saved?'"  (Acts 10:45-47)

The Golden Valley Christian Church meets at 611 South Third Street in Clinton.  Our Sunday Bible classes begin at 9:30 AM, and morning worship is at 10:30 AM.  Our full-time minister is Bro. Tim Randall (office phone #660-890-0252), and our website is www.goldenvalleycc.org.  We are happy to invite you to attend our services, where you will always receive a warm welcome.
