Golden Valley Christian Church

A story was told, a number of years ago, of an old gentleman on a bitterly cold night, waiting for help in crossing a shallow river.  Several riders on horses passed him on the path before one rider stopped to offer help.  Seeing the condition of the man, the rider not only took him across the river, but also took him home.  The old man thanked the rider, and the response was "May I never get so busy that I fail to respond to the needs of others."  That rider was Thomas Jefferson, third president of the United States.  Helping others in need is one message of Jesus.

God blessed us with an especially beautiful Sunday, and we were happy to have some of our weather-shut-in folk back to worship with us.  Chad Williams was ordained as an Elder in our church.  Chad is well qualified for this position to "shepherd the flock."  He has worked hard in the church as a deacon, is a faithful attendee along with his family, a student of the Bible, and a devout Christian.  He will serve with Ken Jones, Steven Cross, and Bro. Tim.  We thank God for giving our church such good leaders!

"What Does it Mean?," referring to worship, was Bro. Tim's message.  People go to church for numerous reasons, but we should always go to glorify God.  Going to church should be an encouragement to you and to others, and a testimony for Jesus.  To make our worship period more effective, we should prepare for it, reading and studying the Bible.

The Bible challenge question is:  "How was Joshua directed to take the city of Jericho?'"  (Joshua 6:3-5)

The Golden Valley Christian Church meets at 611 South Third Street in Clinton.  Our Sunday Bible classes begin at 9:30 AM, and morning worship is at 10:30 AM.  Our full-time minister is Bro.
