Golden Valley Christian Church

Have you ever thought what it would be like to not be able to cry? Crying is a form of releasing tension and expressing sorrow. Both men and women cry, although some men think crying is "unmanly." The Bible tells us even "Jesus wept." But what if you couldn't cry? There is an autoimmune disease, called Sjogren's Syndrome, which is characterized by dryness of the mouth and eyes, and curtails a person's ability to cry normally. Unfortunately, there are some people who can cry, but don't, because they lack concern for others. Jesus was very clear when He said, "Love your neighbor as yourself." As Christians, we need to take that seriously.

Last Sunday night, Bro. Tim and Georgia hosted a wiener roast at their home for the church congregation. An enjoyable evening was reported by all. Christmas will soon be here, and programs are in the planning stages for it. The congregation will help donate small items, helping our children to pack shoeboxes that will be given to other children, through an organization calledSamaritan's Purse. GVCC will also be donating to the community Project Christmas Cheer program.

Nahum 1:1-15 was the topic of Bro. Tim's message. The city of Ninevah, during Jonah's time, was a very evil city. God sent Jonah to help the people repent, which they did, so God did not destroy the city. Fast-forward 150 years, and the city, with new generations of people, had returned to the evil ways of their ancestors. God once again sent a prophet, Nahum, to bring His message to the city. There were three areas of concern, (God's comfort, God's mercy, and God's wrath), which Nahum stressed to the people. We pray our own nation will remember the plight of Ninevah.

The Bible challenge question: How did Abraham's servant know which woman to pick as Isaac's wife? (Genesis 24:12-18)
