Golden Valley Christian Church

A song with the words "those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer" comes to mind with this tremendous July heat.  With vacations, the heat, and other distractions, church attendance seems to wane a bit in the middle of summer.  Yet, looking around at the faces of the faithful in last Sunday's service shows that God and His Son, Jesus, are still the focus of many people.  If anything can renew a spirit, it is seeing so many people putting Jesus first on their agenda.  Everyone "misses" church services occasionally, for many different reasons.  To anyone who has been absent, we say, "We miss you--hurry back!"

Many thanks go to Georgia Randall and Rosanna Cross for filling in as song leader and pianist in the absence of our regular leader and pianist.  Oft times, we take our volunteers for granted, and we fail to let them know how much we appreciate them.  Music is a major part of our worship service, and the people that serve in that capacity are invaluable.

Bro. Tim's message, "When You Fast," concerned passages from Scripture that related to fasting.  There is no verse in the Bible that tells us we must fast; however, there are people in the Bible, including Jesus, that did fast for various reasons.  If you do decide to participate in this activity, be sure the motive behind it is the correct one.

The Bible challenge question is:  "Before Elijah was taken to heaven, what request did Elisha make of him?" (2 Kings 2:9)

The Golden Valley Christian Church meets at 611 South Third Street.  Our Sunday Bible classes begin at 9:30 AM, morning worship is at 10:30 AM, and evening study is at 6:00 PM.  Our full-time minister is Bro. Tim Randall (office phone # 660-890-0252), and our website is goldenvalleycc.org.  We are happy to invite you to attend our services, where you will always receive a warm welcome.
