Golden Valley Christian Church

This week, and most of this month, we have experienced extremely hot weather.  Perhaps some of you have seen a sign on Ohio Street that reads something like this, "If Hell is this hot, I be a-changin' my ways."  While this will bring a chuckle to most of us, remember . . . there is a good deal of truth in that little phrase.  We know Hell is a very hot place!  Jesus warned people of being "in danger of the fire of Hell." (Matt: 5:22)  Many of us need to "be a-changin' our ways."

Golden Valley Christian Church held Vacation Bible School last week.  It always takes a number of people to hold a successful activity such as this, and we have many people to thank.  After our Sunday night Bible study, a homemade ice cream social was enjoyed by all who attended.

Bro. Tim's message, "Meditating on God's Word," continued in encouraging people to read and study the Bible, with prayer being essential to our meditation.  Jesus is our best example of meditating on God's word and praying.  Jesus often meditated and prayed alone.  Some of the best scriptures referring to this are found in Mark, chapter fourteen, where Jesus spent the last hours of His life, praying in solitude in the garden of Gethsemane.

The Bible challenge question is:  "What wife of Jacob became symbolic of the sorrow and tragedy suffered by the Israelites?" (Matthew 2:18)

The Golden Valley Christian Church meets at 611 South Third Street.  Our Sunday Bible classes begin at 9:30 AM, morning worship is at 10:30 AM, and evening study is at 6:00 PM.  Our full-time minister is Bro. Tim Randall (office phone # 660-890-0252), and our website is goldenvalleycc.org.  We are happy to invite you to attend our services, where you will always receive a warm welcome.
